Acton Discovery Museum Visits Kindergarten!Educators from the Acton Discovery Museum brought the inspiring program “Force and Motion” to Pine Hill’s kindergarten classes.
Through this workshop, the kindergartners interacted with a variety of toys, balls and vehicles to explore how movement works in relation to objects. The students loved talking about gravity and enjoyed becoming engineers as they created toys out of limited items.

Author & Illustrator Marty Kelley Visits the 1st Grade! The first graders were delighted by a visit from children's author and illustrator Marty Kelley in early April. Kelley is an engaging speaker who talked the kids through the process of writing and illustrating a book.
He got them thinking about how to create their own super books, and demonstrated illustration tools using an iPad. He made the kids laugh a lot and fielded questions from the audience including "how did you choose your ideas?" and "what happens if you make a mistake?"

Bamidele performs for the 5th Grade! On April 5, the 5th grade was treated to a wonderful interactive performance from Bamidele, a West African dancing and drumming duo. Marilyn and Sekou Sylla performed their show “Wongai! Rhythms of West Africa, Brazil, and the Caribbean” which taught the 5th graders about celebratory West African dances and their adaptations in Brazilian and Caribbean cultures, set to the rhythms of African drumming. The students learned that every dance in Africa is done for a specific occasion and has its own movements that tell a story, its own song, rhythm and instrumentation. The 5th graders and the teachers were also part of the performance as volunteers for drumming and dancing throughout the show! Thank you parents and caregivers! This program was sponsored by Enrichment and would not be possible without your contributions to the CSA!

Sherborn Picks Up - April 2023The Town of Sherborn’s Select Board and its Department of Public (DPW) works is supporting this community volunteer effort to pick up litter in Sherborn in April. Help us fill the WHY!!A public art installation of letters spelling out “WHY”- made of rebar and chicken wire and standing 5’ tall - will again be installed by the DPW at the Sherborn 16/27 split. For the April Cleanup, volunteers are encouraged to sign up to pick up litter during times and in areas of their choosing. Litter has accumulated throughout Sherborn on roadsides, adjacent to sidewalks and at the edges of recreational areas such as Fessenden, Laurel Field and the Playground. The sign up just lets us know your interest and plans, you will not be formally committed to anything - and we will be able to reach you with details, photos and local updates throughout the month.
