Dress Like Your Favorite Children’s Book Character on Friday, February 18

Pine Hill Students have the opportunity to learn about the upcoming Winter Olympics and celebrate reading with The Pine Hill Reading Olympics! Here is the choice board students can use to select a wide variety of reading and learning activities. There are links to many interactive audiobooks that have been made available for this special occasion. The Olympics choice board has links to our very special Pine Hill Reading Olympics.

Students can participate in several reading events that include reading print books and ebooks, listening to podcasts and audiobooks and creating their own books and stories, so start exploring! Links to all of this reading and Olympic fun is also on The Pine Hill School Library website.

Opening ceremonies took place at the All School Meeting on Friday, February 4. We will have a special school spirit day for our closing ceremonies on Friday, February 18. Students can dress like their favorite children’s book character to wrap up our reading and Olympics celebration.

DS Challenge Success Film Screening:
Chasing Childhood

Please join Dover-Sherborn Challenge Success for a film screening and panel discussion of Chasing Childhood.

As the world reopens, there’s never been a better time for us to come together to ask ourselves: What do kids need most to thrive? Chasing Childhood examines how free play and independence have all but disappeared from kids’ lives, supplanted by relentless perfectionism and record high levels of anxiety and depression. The film spotlights experts and families who are empowering young people to explore their independence, enjoy unstructured time, and be free to thrive.

Pine Hill Cat Yearbook Submissions

After the success of the Pine Hill Dog Yearbook, the next issue will feature the Pine Hill Cat Yearbook. Students and staff are invited to share a photo of their cat(s). Please include cat name, student name, grade, and teacher. Submissions are due by April 11th, 2022. Email photos to Mr. Randa at randac@doversherborn.org.

Please add your name to *one time slot per month* to share the opportunity of volunteering with as many families as possible!

New Nature and STEM Camp

The Charles River School in Dover is offering a new Nature and STEM Camp this summer featuring STEM projects, outdoor play, swimming, and arts and crafts for children ages 4-10.

Kingsbury Club in Medfield: Splash & Dash

Kids ages 7-15
February 19th, 3:00-5:00 PM
Cost: $15
(indoors in the pool and on treadmills)

In partnership with USA Triathlon, the Kingsbury Club in Medfield is hosting a Splash & Dash Aquathlon Series Event. This is a fun and fast growing youth sport that combines running and swimming with the end goal of exposing youth participants to USA Triathlon and the exciting world of multipart! Depending on participants age, they will be doing a 100-200 yard swim followed by a 1k-2k run.
