Pine Hill Enrichment

David Coffin, Exploring the Early Winds
The third-grade classes were treated to a terrific program by an accomplished musician, David Coffin. He introduced these young recorder students to the earliest wind instruments, starting with the Ocarina and Gemshorns, from the smallest soprano to the low great bass. David also demonstrated through the everyday objects of a water bottle and a straw that controlling vibration is the key to playing any instrument well!

Fifth Grade Uncovers the Man Behind the Myth
Our 5th graders were joined by the museum educators of The Paul Revere House. During a slide presentation, our students found out what really happened on Paul Revere’s midnight ride.

The educators separated facts from the myths surrounding Paul Revere's ride from his home in North Square towards the Charles River. The class separated into small groups and examined letters, advertisements and reproduction artifacts. Next, they looked for clues in these items about the man behind the myth. Interesting details emerged about Revere’s personality, contributions to the Revolution, his very large family (16 children and 51 grandchildren), and his many business ventures! Learn More

Pine Hill Cat Yearbook Submissions

After the success of the Pine Hill Dog Yearbook, the next issue will feature the Pine Hill Cat Yearbook. Students and staff are invited to share a photo of their cat(s). Please include cat name, student name, grade, and teacher. Submissions are due by April 11th, 2022. Email photos to Mr. Randa at randac@doversherborn.org.

In case you missed it, the first-ever Pine Hill Dog Yearbook is out. Meet all the dogs that love and are loved by the students and teachers of Pine Hill.

How You Can Get Involved

Collecting Item Donations for Raffle Baskets!

We're gearing up for the raffle basket drawing on April 14th, but we need your help!

How It Works
First the CSA organizes donations of basket items. Second, the Pine Hill Community purchases Raffle tickets for each basket, and it culminates with a drawing conducted over the school announcement system! It’s one of the exciting spring events that our kids love!

There are two classes 'sponsoring' each basket. You can donate to whichever baskets you would like to - you can donate to multiple baskets too. There are baskets themed for slime, Legos, Summer, Wizards, Wheels & more!

Once the baskets are complete, they will be on display in the library toward the end of March,

Ways to Donate
• Donate Items to Baskets (you can regift, but only unopened and unused)
• Donate Money (funds will be used to fill some baskets that are low, OR, will be added directly to the fundraiser). Venmo @KatieGarvey27

Spring Cleaning? Save your stuff for the CSA!

In celebration of Earth Month, the CSA will be holding a Pop-up Swap Shop on Sunday, April 10 (think a giant, live "Buy Nothing" event).

Drop off your donations April 8-9.

Pine Hill parents are invited to bring in lightly grow-out-of gear, clothes, home goods, appliances, accessories, toys... whatever needs a new home! Attendees will be able to take whatever they can carry for a small entry fee.

Sherborn Welcome Committee Spring Social

Join the Sherborn Welcome Committee for an informal gathering to meet new friends or catch up with old ones!

March 24, 7-9 p.m. at The Heritage of Sherborn

Whether you're new to town or have lived in Sherborn for years, this is a great way to connect with others in the community. We hope to see you there! Hosted by Friends of the Sherborn Library. Light hor d’oeuvres will be available. Cash bar. Please register so we know how much food to order.

Spring Field Hockey Clinics

Register for Spring Field Hockey Clinics for Grades K-5 this April & May. Try field hockey for the first time or dust off your stick to get ready for the Fall! The clinics will take place on Saturdays in April & May: 4/30, 5/7, 5/14 and 5/21 from 1:00-2:30 pm at the DS High School Turf. $40/per clinic - sign up for one, two, three or all four clinics. Create a magical wizard out of Paper Mache. Have fun creating this wizard and incorporating special attributes to represent yourself. Share your special attributes with your partner.
